YouthWay’s first community project, Al-Hikam Institute is an educational foundation, a local youth centre and mosque. The institute was launched in early 2015, and already had over 220 students enrolled before the year was out.
For students aged 5-16, Al-Hikam runs part-time evening classes. Lessons are in basic Quran and Islamic Studies. This covers Fiqh; Qaida; Islamic History; and Arabic language. The classes offers children and young people in full-time education the chance to learn more about their faith.
For students over 16, who have decided to pursue a more specialized education in Islamic Studies, the full-time Dars e Nizami is available. This is an 8-year Ā’lim (Islamic Scholar) course with a view to training young people to become Ā’lims.
As a mosque and community centre, Al Hikam Institute offers regular free events and lectures, which are open to the public. Weekly Dhikr circles are held every Tuesday evening. Juma prayer is held on Fridays with the Friday sermon in English.
